Kenan Fellows Program for Teacher Leadership Names New Director

The Kenan Fellows Program for Teacher Leadership (KFP) has named Dr. Vance Kite as its new director. Dr. Kite, a 2012-13 Kenan Fellow, joined the KFP effective July 1, 2022. He is the fifth director of the KFP, and the first alumnus to be named to this leadership position in the program’s 22-year history.

New CNR Program Aims to Grow Tomorrow’s Leaders

The College of Natural Resources’ new James Buzzard Leadership Development Program is expected to launch in the spring of 2023. The year-long program was established through a gift by the late James “Jim” Buzzard, a 1976 pulp and paper technology alumnus, and targets upper-level undergraduates who are within three semesters of graduation with cumulative leadership experiences such as the CNR Student Ambassadors, Shelton Leadership, Sustainability Steward or similar programs.

BME Assoc. Prof. Ashley Brown Receives 2023 Chancellor’s Innovation Fund Award

One of the six 2023 Chancellor’s Innovation Fund Awards will go to BME Associate Professor Ashley Brown. The Chancellor’s Innovation Fund provides seed funding to a select few NC State research projects each year that have promise for market success.

NC State Plant Breeding Research Fueled by Stuber Professorship

For his outstanding achievements in plant breeding, Ramsey Lewis has been named the Dr. Charles W. Stuber Sr. and Marilyn M. Stuber Distinguished Professor in Plant Breeding. Charles Stuber, who began his career at NC State in 1965, is considered a pioneer of quantitative genetic mapping and marker-assisted selection in maize. His work helped to create some of the foundations for modern plant breeding.

Faculty Plant Seeds for Student Opportunity and Innovation

William Neal Reynolds Distinguished Professor Todd Wehner and his wife, Delmarie, have decided to include a gift to the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences in their estate plans to establish a fellowship endowment benefiting graduate students enrolled in the Department of Horticultural Science. The Dr. Todd C. Wehner and Delmarie Wehner R.T. (R) (M) Horticulture Fellowship Endowment will be the result.

An Investment in the Future of Large Animal Medicine

In their competitive and professional capacities, Bob and Jane DeMeulmester have taken advantage of the advanced expertise of the NC State College of Veterinary Medicine and Hospital. Those experiences have been so positive that the couple felt led to establish the Banixx Horse & Pet Care Graduate Award with an initial pledge of $20,000 to support the next generation of students focusing on large animal medicine.
