Two Park Scholars Receive the Astronaut Scholarship

Two NC State Park Scholars in the Class of 2019, Ziad Ali and Madison Maloney, are recipients of a 2018-19 Astronaut Scholarship. Awarded to 50 scholars from 36 universities across the nation, the scholarship was established to aid the United States in retaining world leadership in technology and innovation by supporting the best and brightest scholars in science, technology, engineering and mathematics while commemorating the legacy of America’s pioneering astronauts.

Exploring Public History in Prague

Six NC State students recently explored medieval monuments, museums and much more during the first Public History in Prague course. The class tailored its tours for visitors of NC State's European Center in Prague, the university's hub for international networks and experiences. Personalized tours helped provide unique opportunities outside the classroom — and country. Students taking part in study abroad programs are often supported through private funding.

A Common Ground

Chloe Shevlin, a 2018 NC State graduate and member of the University Scholars program, spent plenty of time inspiring others while serving in multiple roles within Wellness and Recreation at the university. She was awarded the John F. Miller Award as the top student employee in 2017-18, and she's raised thousands of dollars for Wellness and Recreation's Cycle for Survival event. Since graduation, Chloe has worked at Duke University Hospital to lead process improvement initiatives.

College of Education Celebrates a Record Year of Giving

The College of Education capped off its 90th anniversary with gifts and pledges totaling $4,680,964 from a record 1,047 donors, including 171 faculty and staff members. This increase in private giving enables the college to offer more scholarships, study abroad opportunities and research and faculty support.

AgPack Strong: A Family Affair

Jeremiah Jones wanted to skip college and go right into farming, but with the support of scholarships, he found a home with NC State's Agricultural Institute. He and his wife Jessica, a College of Agriculture and Life Sciences poultry science major, now run a family farm called GrassRoots Pork Co.
