Eleven Humanities and Social Sciences Students Recognized with Prestigious National Awards

Eleven College of Humanities and Social Sciences students -- including Park and Goodnight Scholars and Caldwell Fellows -- recently received or were named finalists for prestigious national awards tied to the teaching or study of critical languages abroad.

The Park Class of 2018: Highlights

The Park Scholarships program has proudly graduated the Class of 2018. Class members demonstrated a deep intellectual curiosity and zest for life through their efforts in scholarship, leadership and service. The group also left as its legacy an endowment to provide support for future Park Scholars -- and is already over halfway to its goal of raising $100,000.

Textile Engineering Student Leads Project on Solar Bus Stop

Christian Rust, a Park Scholar double majoring in textile engineering and chemical engineering, once questioned his ability to make an impact on a campus as large as NC State’s. But with a passion for service and human-centered innovation, Rust has come to the right place to leave his legacy.

Ashley Lawson, a Park Scholar and math education and mathematics major, plans to spend her life empowering people -- especially school-aged children -- to look beyond their circumstances when setting goals for the future. Lawson was recently named NC State's 10th Truman Scholar.

Park Scholarships Announces Class of 2022

The new class of Park Scholars was selected from a record-setting pool of nearly 2,120 outstanding applicants from 43 states and 95 of North Carolina’s 100 counties. Recipients are chosen based on outstanding accomplishments and potential in scholarship, leadership, service and character.

Park Scholar Featured in Art2Wear

Christian Fuda, a senior majoring in industrial design, stepped out of his comfort zone to pursue his passion of fashion design as he presented an avant-garde collection for the annual fashion show Art2Wear, hosted by NC State's College of Design. The program recently celebrated its 17th year as a student-organized runway show presenting fashion, costume and wearable sculpture created by students.

Alumna Explores the Oil Industry

NC State graduate Lauren Cagley always enjoyed problem-solving and using creativity to make a difference, so discovering her calling in engineering during her undergraduate career as a Park Scholar paved the way for a bright future. At the ExxonMobil Beaumont Refinery in Beaumont, Texas, she is currently responsible for managing day-to-day logistics for 375,000 barrels of crude oil daily.

sPark: A Park Scholarships Symposium

Students, alumni, parents, faculty, staff and selection committee members met at the StateView Hotel on NC State’s Centennial Campus earlier in April for sPark 2018 — the Park Scholarships' second biannual leadership and networking symposium. The weekend exemplifying the four pillars of scholarship, leadership, service and character, and brought together individuals from all stages of life and career.
