CNR Student Ben Zino is Promoting Wildlife Conservation One Video at a Time

Ben Zino is a junior majoring in fisheries, wildlife and conservation biology. Zino is also a Park Scholar and minoring in environmental education. His passion for conservation led him to create The Wild Report, a YouTube channel with more than 23,000 subscribers that highlights various wildlife species and promotes local conservation efforts.

Park Scholarships Raises Over Half a Million Dollars on Day of Giving 2021

On NC State’s third Day of Giving, the Park Scholarships community raised $551,466 from 513 gifts in 24 hours. In all, 295 members of the Park community came together to make a difference for Park Scholars, now and always.

A Winning Solution to Reducing Food Waste

To address both food waste and food insecurity, Park Scholars David Horne ’23 and Joshua Mason ’24 created an app that connects grocery stores with food-based charities. The project recently won the grand prize at Make-A-Thon, an NC State competition in which student teams research, design and prototype innovative solutions to sustainability challenges.

Meet Park Faculty Scholar Clifford Griffin

Clifford Griffin, an associate professor of political science in NC State’s School of Public and International Affairs, has served as a Park Faculty Scholar for three classes, including the Class of 2021, and previously chaired the Park Scholarships Advisory Committee. He specializes in political, economic, cultural and security relations in the Caribbean and Latin America and is also an affiliate of the Center for the Study of Violence at the University of São Paulo, Brazil.

February 2021 Park Enrichment Grants Awarded

The Park Enrichment Grant committee awarded the grants to Park Scholars who submitted proposals by the February 1 deadline. These awards, initiated in 1998, are designed to foster the development of scholarship, service, leadership and character, as well as connect scholars with faculty.

Jennifer Frix ’17 Channels AI to Promote Fairness in Banking

Park Scholar Jennifer Frix ’17 thrived as an NC State undergraduate and graduate student. Now, she works for Bank of America as an assistant vice president in the Artificial Intelligence Enablement and Governance team, assessing artificial intelligence solutions implemented across the enterprise.

Park Scholarships Names Class of 2025 Finalists

The Park Scholarships Selection Committee, comprising more than 300 NC State alumni and friends, conducted interviews with 495 semifinalists in early January. The semifinalists were selected from 2,203 applicants. Of that group, 112 candidates have been selected as finalists for the Class of 2025.
