Russ and Cara McLauchlan Make $1M Donation to Baseball Enhancement Fund

The future continues to be bright for fans of #Pack9, as Russ and Cara McLauchlan have committed $1 million to the Baseball Enhancement Fund. This is the fifth major commitment announced for the project that will impact NC State baseball’s competitive future while also significantly enhancing the spectator experience.

TowneBank Makes $5 Million Gift to Enhance NC State Athletics

TowneBank has committed $5 million to Wolfpack Athletics that will support key upgrades and improvements within Carter-Finley Stadium. In recognition of the gift, the 117,000-square-foot West Side Tower that stretches from endzone to endzone (previously known as C. Richard Vaughn Towers) is being renamed TowneBank Center for a 10-year period beginning July 1, 2022.

Wolfpack Racks Up NCAA Titles

It was a remarkably successful year for NC State Athletics, which finished 2021-22 with a record-setting collection of NCAA hardware. The most recent title came June 11 at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon, when sophomore distance runner Katelyn Tuohy won the 5,000-meter race with a time of 15:18.39 — the second consecutive title in that event for a Wolfpack runner.

Don Sherrill Makes Significant Donation Toward NC State Baseball Enhancement Project

Don Sherrill of Charlotte has made the fourth major commitment to the NC State baseball program’s enhancement plan for Doak Field at Dail Park. The three-phase plan will strategically meet program and budgetary priorities including field improvements, player performance facilities and game day/fan experience enhancements.

The former NC State basketball player, coach and documentary producer launched the Dereck Whittenburg Foundation in 2015 with his wife, Jacqueline, to provide scholarship funds to college juniors and seniors facing financial hardship.

This gift is the first major commitment to the facility upgrades that will better support NC State baseball’s competitive future while also dramatically enhancing the spectator experience.

Staying Power

Grad student Raina Perez transferred to NC State in 2020 and then decided to stick around for one more year when the NCAA granted student-athletes a “COVID year.” Perez has become a vital member of the Wolfpack’s outstanding women’s basketball team since then, contributing to their stellar performance this season.

Beating the Odds

A.J. Cole III '18 is loving life as a punter for the NFL’s Las Vegas Raiders. In 2021, his third pro season, he averaged 50 yards a punt to lead the NFL (his longest was 74 yards) and was named to the 2021 All-Pro Team as the league’s best punter. The former Wolfpack student-athlete earned a degree in industrial engineering.
