Women’s Cross Country Team Wins National Title

The NC State women’s cross country team won the first NCAA Championship in program history on Saturday, totaling 84 points to take home the team crown in Tallahassee, Florida. It’s the third national title for the storied NC State program, which captured the AIAW Championships in 1979 and 1980. Led by sixth-place finisher Kelsey Chmiel, all five of the Pack’s top finishers who counted toward the team score earned All-American honors, setting a program record for number of All-American honorees in a single season.

Guardian Wolves Honored at Syracuse Football Game

When the COVID-19 crisis forced the cancellation of most public events in 2020, collegiate athletics programs all over the country faced serious financial challenges. At NC State, a special group of supporters made sure the Wolfpack could weather the storm. These Guardian Wolves, who collectively pledged more than $7 million to help balance the NC State Athletics budget, were honored on the field last week during the Syracuse football game.

An Easy Way to Give

Edna Gaston’s love for NC State runs deep. Gaston has been a loyal supporter of the university over the years, and she and her late husband, Perry, helmed a famous tailgate at Carter-Finley Stadium for many football seasons. Gaston recently designated gifts to Athletics, the College of Veterinary Medicine and the Extension Master Gardeners program through her will.

NC State Athletics Offering Football Fan Cutouts

Due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on attendance for fall sports, NC State Athletics is providing other ways that the Wolfpack can help support the Pack on game days while not physically being in the stands. Fans will be able to purchase a Wolfpack Football Fan Cutout to have their face in the stands of Carter-Finley Stadium. Proceeds from the sales will go directly to supporting student-athletes.

NC State Athletics Launches Preserve the Pack Campaign

Much like the rest of the country, NC State Athletics is facing significant challenges as a result of COVID-19. In an effort to address an expected multimillion-dollar deficit resulting from lost ticket and television revenue and more, University Advancement, NC State Athletics and the Wolfpack Club have launched a special fundraising effort. Contributions to Preserve the Pack will provide unrestricted funding to maintain the best possible student-athlete experience and protect NC State Athletics and all that it means to the university community.
