Innovation and Entrepreneurship Students Compete at UF Innovate

Two members of this year’s team are involved in NC State’s Innovation and Entrepreneurship programs, which they credit with preparing them for the competition. Dan Webb is part of the Entrepreneurship Scholarship program and has participated in Mentorship Meetups and Make-A-Thon, and Ben Poovey is a resident of the Albright Entrepreneurs Village and a member of eGarage.

Goodnight Scholarships Select Finalists for Class of 2027

The Goodnight Scholarships office at NC State revealed 104 finalists who will participate in the program’s annual finalist interview day. The finalists were selected from a pool of candidates from across North Carolina and represent 84 high schools, 42 counties, and six NC State academic colleges. From this group, 50 students will be invited to join the Goodnight Scholars Program’s Class of 2027.

A Landmark Gift for Graduate Students

A $10 million estate gift from John McRary to the College of Sciences is the largest estate gift in the history of the college and will support graduate students in physics and mathematics. To that end, the gift creates the John W. McRary Physics Graduate Support Endowment and the John W. McRary Mathematics Graduate Support Endowment.

Aerospace Engineering Student Realizes Childhood Dream With NASA

Kierra Shook is a third-year student in the University Scholars Program (now combined with the University Honors Program) studying aerospace engineering. Kierra recently completed a paid internship with the NASA Office of STEM Engagement, which then led to a NASA Pathways internship and provides her with a direct pipeline to full-time employment with NASA upon her graduation.

Applications Open for the Andrews Launch Accelerator

The Andrews Launch Accelerator is the product of a $1 million donation from Lyn and Chip Andrews. Through the fund, NC State allocates equity-free seed capital to startups created by students or by alumni who graduated within the last five years. The application will be open until March 31.
