Celebrating Park Faculty Scholars

Each cohort of Park Scholars benefits from the close mentorship of two distinguished members of NC State’s faculty. These professors, known as Park Faculty Scholars, journey with the students through their four-year Park Enrichment Academy experiences, learning from and with the scholars while they also provide valuable guidance and support to each student.

Dressing for Success

The Wolfpack Styled Professional Clothing Closet served nearly 800 NC State students in the 2024-25 academic year, helping them look and feel their best as they pursued internships, co-ops, career fairs, interviews and other professional opportunities. This invaluable service would not be possible without the generous support of alumni, faculty, staff and community members who donate clothing to keep the Closet stocked with current, stylish and professional options.

Inaugural Student Success Symposium Fosters Campus Collaboration

In May, NC State’s inaugural Student Success Symposium was held as an opportunity for faculty and staff from across campus to come together to identify best practices, strategies and resources to support undergraduate and graduate student success. The symposium also featured a keynote speaker in Audrey Jaeger, a W. Dallas Herring professor of Community College Education and the executive director for the Belk Center for Community College Leadership and Research.

Growing Blueberry Research

Postdoctoral researcher Heeduk Oh’s cutting-edge work with blueberries has earned him the 2025 Kenneth R. Keller Award, a $2,500 prize for excellence in doctoral dissertation research in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. The award was established after Kenneth Keller’s retirement from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences in 1979 by faculty, friends and industry partners to honor his work for the university and for North Carolina’s agricultural development.

Researchers Create New Way To Remove Phosphorus From Contaminated Water

Researchers including Yaroslava Yingling, Kobe Steel Distinguished Professor of Materials Science and Engineering at NC State, have created an inexpensive hydrogel that can filter phosphorus from contaminated surface waters, drinking water supplies or wastewater streams to reduce phosphorus pollution and reuse the phosphorus for agricultural and industrial applications.
