College of Education Sets Fundraising Record in FY2021, Allowing Even More Support for Students

NC State’s College of Education received $14,006,877 in gifts and new commitments in 2020-21 — the highest amount in philanthropic investments the college has received in a single fiscal year since records have been kept. Increased giving means greater support for students, with 217 scholarships or fellowships awarded in 2020-21.

Kofi Boone Announced as Joseph D. Moore Distinguished Professor

The College of Design has named Kofi Boone, FASLA, professor of landscape architecture and environmental planning, as the Joseph D. Moore Distinguished Professor. Boone has been at the College of Design since 2004. His work is in the overlap between landscape architecture and environmental justice with specializations in democratic design, digital media and interpreting cultural landscapes.

Drumming Up Support for Music Students

Lori Freeze Constantino and her husband, Mike — who is the chair of the NC State University Foundation Board — recently made a gift to the Department of Music to establish the Barbara and Curtis Freeze Marching Band Scholarship Endowment. The fund honors Lori’s parents and will provide need-based scholarships for undergraduate students who are participating, or plan to participate, in the marching band at NC State.

With New Distinguished Chair, Family’s Heartfelt Gift Creates Lasting Impact

Andy Quattlebaum loved the outdoors and animals, especially his yellow Labrador retriever, Oak. After his unexpected death, Andy’s parents, Don and Hayden Blackwell Quattlebaum, looked for special opportunities to provide meaningful and lasting support for his greatest passions. One of those special opportunities resulted in the establishment of the Andy Quattlebaum Distinguished Chair in Infectious Disease Research at NC State’s College of Veterinary Medicine, which is held by Professor of Internal Medicine Adam Birkenheuer.

Introducing the 2025 Class of Textile Pioneer Scholars

Meet the three students comprising the 2025 class of Textile Pioneer Scholars. The $14,000 scholarship is given each year to students from non-metropolitan areas in North Carolina planning to attend the Wilson College of Textiles. Scholars also receive $4,000 in enrichment funds heading into their first year.
