CVM Students Awarded AAAP Scholarships

College of Veterinary Medicine students Hannah Sather, Jewell Bremer, Rachel Thiemann and Goodnight Scholars Program alumnus Grayson Walker were honored with scholarships from the American Association of Avian Pathologists at the organization's annual meeting. Additionally, Rocio Crespo, who joined the CVM faculty this year as the professor of poultry health management, was named president-elect of the American College of Poultry Veterinarians

Serving with the Caldwell Fellows

A pillar of NC State's Caldwell Fellows program is service-learning, which involves a greater level of intention and reflection than service alone, and more civic engagement than a strictly academic learning experience. This summer, two Caldwell teams worked concurrently in different communities (Pozos, Mexico, and Siler City, NC) and shared their experiences with each other remotely.

Forestry Student Wins Resource Management Service Scholarship

Sarah Bailey, a College of Natural Resources senior studying forest management, is the recipient of a two-year scholarship from Resource Management Service, one of the world's leading managers of forest investments for institutional investors and the managers of a 50-year timber deed on NC State's Hofman Forest. The scholarship aims to promote forestry as a career path for student populations that have been historically underrepresented in the profession.

Connecting With Community: Caldwell Fellows Intern Erica Lisowe

The Caldwell Fellows Program is developing the next generation of self-aware, globally-minded students who engage in creative, conscientious leadership, and the Institute for Emerging Issues wants to help. Erica Lisowe, a member of the 2021 class of Caldwell Fellows, will be working with the institute on its Service Year NC project.

Endowed Scholarship Support is a Home Run for Veterinary Student

Danielle Barnes, a member of the College of Veterinary Medicine's class of 2020, has been named the inaugural recipient of the Babe and Yogi Scholarship Endowment, established by Kimberly and Donald Moore. Donald Moore is the president and general manager of the Greensboro Grasshoppers, and the scholarship is named in memory of the family's two dogs, who were trained as bat dogs and delighted fans at hundreds of baseball games.

Gilman Scholarship Supports Study Abroad Experiences

Four NC State students were recently selected to receive the prestigious Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship to study abroad or intern abroad this fall. Spain and Tanzania are among the places the students will think and do during the semester.

NC State Launches Minor in Global Leadership and Team Decision Making

The minor open to all NC State undergraduates features 12 hours earned abroad during a spring semester program taking place in three European countries and co-taught by an interdisciplinary faculty team from the university and its partner institutions. Debbie Acker, senior associate director for operations and academic programs for the Shelton Leadership Center, led development and partnership-building for the unique minor; philanthropy enables more students to participate.
