Scholarship Continues to Support NC State Families

More than $1 million in Employee Dependent’s Tuition Scholarship funds have been awarded to dependents of full-time NC State employees since 2016. And more than 300 donors, most of them staff and faculty members themselves, have joined Chancellor Randy Woodson and his wife Susan by supporting the fund.

Every child grows up with a dream. Ana Sofia Uzsoy, a Park Scholar at NC State, wanted to be an astronomer. She has already been able to pursue topics that fit that dream, and she plans to pursue her doctorate in computational astrophysics.

Continuing a Legacy of Education

Three months after Jim Robbins '75 created a scholarship for undergraduate civil engineering students the College of Engineering, he approached his daughter, Rebecca, a three-time NC State alumna, about creating a scholarship at the College of Veterinary Medicine. The Rebecca C. Robbins Scholarship will support students with an interest in research and swine medicine.

A Class Act

After more than a decade, NC State's Goodnight Scholars Program —which supports low- to middle-income students who plan careers in science, technology, engineering, math or education — has grown to include full-time staff and activities like retreats and mentoring opportunities. There were 25 students in the first group of scholars; today 50 graduating high school seniors and 20 transfer students are awarded the scholarship each year, making it the second-largest comprehensive full-ride scholarship in the state.

Claire Mellott ’20 Volunteers with AmeriCorps VISTA

Having developed an interest in public health from participating in the Park Scholarships Speaker Series, Claire Mellott '20 discovered the Rural Works! program and its partnership with NC State. Focused on addressing public health issues in local areas, Rural Works! provided Mellott with the opportunity to learn more about opioid misuse while serving in Asheville.

NC State Announces First Scholarship in Entrepreneurship

The e5x Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship for student entrepreneurs, endowed by NC State alumna and founder of Neo IP JiNan Glasgow George on the university's first Day of Giving. This year’s recipient is Katie Lawson, a sophomore in the College of Engineering who is studying industrial and systems engineering.

A Big Night for Holt

Former standout Wolfpack student-athlete Torry Holt will be honored at Thursday night's football game against Syracuse, in recognition of his upcoming induction into the National Football Foundation (NFF) & College Hall of Fame. The two-time all-America receiver will be the sixth NC State player to have his accomplishments memorialized in the hall, which is located in Atlanta.
