College of Sciences Surpasses Campaign Goal

The College of Sciences has surpassed its $60 million goal for NC State’s Think and Do the Extraordinary campaign more than 18 months of schedule. As of May 31, the college had raised more than $62.3 million during the Campaign, including funding for 61 new scholarships and fellowships and 13 new professorships. These funds have supported the Campaign priorities of creating extraordinary opportunity, purpose and experiences for students and faculty throughout the college with funding for current operations, facilities and endowment.

Announcing the First Sameer Murarka Entrepreneurship Scholarship Recipient

A rising junior in the College of Engineering, Katie Lawson is studying industrial and systems engineering and minoring in cognitive science. Lawson aims to be a leader within the field of neurological research. Established in 2019 by Ragini and Ishwar Murarka to honor the memory and entrepreneurial spirit of their son, Sameer, the merit-based scholarship is designed to support emerging entrepreneurs in their own quests to think beyond boundaries and do the extraordinary.

Above and Beyond: Student Employees Earn Special Scholarship for Commitment to Wellness

More than 700 students are employed part-time in various positions with Wellness and Recreation. This year, Carson Kelber ’21 and Dani Dalton ’21 were recognized in a virtual ceremony as recipients of the Wellness and Recreation Friends and Family Student-Employee Scholarship. The award provides financial assistance to two undergraduate student employees who uphold Wellness and Recreation's mission while serving as as leaders and role models.

CVM Matching Donations to Tracy Hanner Endowed Scholarship

The Tracy Hanner Endowed Scholarship was established in 2018 by the North Carolina Association of Minority Veterinarians to honor Tracy Hanner, who became the CVM's first Black graduate in 1986. The scholarship supports underrepresented DVM students at the CVM, with a preference given to students coming from underserved communities, and the college is matching contributions through this month.

‘Don of Donations’ Retires

Over a career spanning six chancellors, eight athletics directors, and 19 Wolfpack football, men’s and women’s basketball, and baseball coaches, one thing remained constant: Bobby Purcell's passion for NC State and its student-athletes. The philanthropic partnerships he built in his more than 30 years as executive director for the Wolfpack Club will endure as one of his many legacies.

Bain Receives the Isaac Frank Ormond III Scholarship

NC State's Department of Health and Exercise Studies announced that junior Crista Bain has been named the latest recipient of the Isaac Frank Ormond III Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship recognizes a strong, consistent commitment to the field of health and exercise studies through participation in extracurricular activities, internships, certifications and other educational opportunities. Recipients demonstrate characteristics such as good character and strong academic standing.
