Lulu eGames Goes Digital

The Lulu eGames, NC State's annual startup competition sponsored by Lulu.com and supported by volunteer judges, has gone digital. Winners will be announced on NC State Entrepreneurship’s Facebook page April 8 at 6 p.m., with livestream Q&As to follow.

A five-year, $3.75 million grant from the N.C. Principal Fellows Commission will allow the College of Education to expand delivery of its customized, two-year Master of School Administration program through partnerships with multiple school districts.

An Interview with Evelyn Reiman, Molly Hays Glander Fund Co-Founder

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Molly Hays Glander Fund, which supports the Women’s Center’s interpersonal violence programming and collaborative action centered on creating a culture of consent and a violence-free campus at NC State. Evelyn Reiman, who retired as associate vice chancellor for student affairs, was one of the co-founders of the endowment. She recently reflected on her career and the fund.

NC State Jenkins MBA Jumps Significantly in 2021 US News & World Report Ranking

The Jenkins Professional full-time MBA program climbed to No. 52 (from 85) among full-time MBA programs worldwide, while the professional evening MBA program was listed as No. 61 among part-time MBA programs in the United States. Poole College of Management's graduate programs are named in recognition of the dedicated support of Benjamin P. Jenkins III.

Mathematician Bociu Receives Faculty Diversity Professional Development Award

Lorena Bociu, an associate professor in the Department of Mathematics at NC State, is the 2019-20 recipient of the College of Sciences Faculty Diversity Professional Development Award. She was selected for her outstanding contributions to promoting diversity among students and faculty as well as her significant achievements in teaching, research and outreach. Created by a private gift to the college, the award supports professional development opportunities for mid- and early-career faculty.

As doctors and scientists continue to study how the community of microbes that inhabit our gut impact human health, other researchers are exploring the importance of the gut microbiome on animals. Two institutions studying animal gut health and nutrition — NC State and DSM Nutritional Products, a global science-based company focused on nutrition, health and sustainable living — recently signed a memorandum of understanding to enhance their research partnership. Specific partners are the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and the College of Veterinary Medicine.

Diversity in STEM Symposium Highlights Inclusive Spaces

About 300 people from across NC State and the Triangle attended the College of Sciences’ second Diversity in STEM Symposium in February. The theme of the event, sponsored by BASF and featuring many alumni speakers, was “Creating Inclusive Spaces."
