Jada Hester ’20 Looks at the Wage Gap as a WomenNC Scholar

Jada Hester, a member of the Park Scholarships class of 2020, was named one of 10 WomenNC Scholars from across the state. As part of the program, Hester, who is majoring in business administration and international studies, conducted research focused on the wage gap among women in Durham — specifically, the disparity between pay for white and nonwhite women.

NC State Poole College Welcomes Three New Advisory Board Members

Poole College of Management announced the appointment of three new members to its advisory board: Brian Ciaverella and alumni Amy Rumford and Amir Mehr. Board members lend their unique perspectives as they attend events, mentor students, contributie philanthropically and serve as ambassadors for the college in the greater community.

Andrews Launch Accelerator Helps Put WAAM Founder on Track for Fall Launch

Karly Pavlinac, a 2017 NC State graduate, is turning frustration with step-by-step fitness instructions into a startup. WAAM, or We Are A Movement, offers top fitness trainers a toolbox for monetizing their fan base, along with a community. Pavlinac met a key investor during her participation in the 2018 Andrews Launch Accelerator, a program supported by Poole College of Management alumnus Chip Andrews and his wife Lyn.

2018 Andrews Launch Accelerator’s Aeva Labs is Taking Off

Andrews Launch Accelerator participants founded Aeva Labs in 2018, aiming to find a way to help distillers accelerate the production of liquor. A year after the launch, the company is taking off. A gift from NC State alumnus Chip Andrews and his wife Lyn established the NC State Acceleration Fund in 2016. Awards support student startup companies.

McLauchlan Leadership Challenge Brings Jenkins MBA Student ‘Out of the Chair, Into the Air’

Sahir Patel came to NC State's Jenkins MBA program to gain independence and see the world. Patel has wanted to go skydiving since childhood, and the McLauchlan Leadership Series put him on a path to do that as part of his personal journey.

Three Teams Begin 2019 Andrews Launch Accelerator

The 2019 Andrews Launch Accelerator cohort has begun three months of intensive learning sessions and mentoring at the Entrepreneurship Clinic. In 2016, NC State alumnus Chip Andrews and his wife Lyn established the NC State Acceleration Fund that awards grants annually to student startup companies. Lelon Winstead, an alum and member of the Wolfpack Investor Network, is assisting as a mentor.

Poole Showcase Celebrates Student Innovation and Employer Engagement

VF Corporation, a worldwide apparel and footwear company headquartered in Greensboro, was named Employer of the Year at Poole College's 11th annual Leadership and Innovation Showcase. VF has been a dedicated supporter of Poole College students and their successes. The showcase also featured presentations from student teams highlighting various entrepreneurship opportunities at NC State, many of which are enhanced by private support.

NC State Names New Dean of Poole College of Management

Frank Buckless has been named Stephen P. Zelnak Jr. Dean of the Poole College of Management at NC State University. A faculty member in the Department of Accounting since 1989, Buckless recently served as the interim dean of Poole College and Matthew and Ruth Keen Faculty Fellow.
