Forestry Professor Fikret Isik Named Fulbright Scholar

Fikret Isik, a professor of forestry and environmental resources and the co-director of the Tree Improvement Program at NC State, has received a Fulbright U.S. Scholar Award. Beginning in February 2023, Isik will spend nearly a year conducting research on and teaching courses about quantitative genetics and its applications to plant and animal breeding at the University of Pretoria’s Future Africa campus.

2022 Chancellor’s Fall Address

Chancellor Randy Woodson will deliver his annual fall address on Oct. 31 at 1 p.m. from the floor of Talley Student Union, with the entire campus invited to attend. In this year’s address, the chancellor is expected to highlight the individual and collective achievements of the NC State community — including how private support continues to help us Think and Do.

Former Park Faculty Scholar Named Fulbright Distinguished Chair in International Relations

Clifford Griffin, associate professor in the School of Public and International Affairs, was recently named a Fulbright Distinguished Chair in International Relations. As a result, the former Park Faculty Scholar will have the opportunity to conduct research at the International Relations Institute at the University of Sao Paulo this year.

Poole Staff Spotlight: Meet Brian Clark

When Brian Clark got the phone call to come back to NC State after playing five seasons in the NFL, he jumped at the chance to join the Wolfpack again. After successfully leading the fundraising efforts for the Wolfpack Club, he joined Poole College of Management in 2020 as executive director of development and external relations, where he continues to connect donors with ways to make a difference.

Tony Reevy Named Executive Director of Development and Assistant Vice Provost for University Interdisciplinary Initiatives Development

Tony Reevy has been named Executive Director of Development and Assistant Vice Provost for University Interdisciplinary Initiatives Development, effective July 1. Reevy will report directly to Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost Warwick Arden.

These 23 early- and mid-career faculty members received this designation in recognition of their outstanding academic achievements and contributions to NC State through their teaching, scholarship and service to the university and beyond.

Debbie Acker Appointed Director of Shelton Leadership Center

Debbie Acker, interim director of NC State’s Shelton Leadership Center (SLC), has been named permanent director of the center following the retirement of Barbara Mulkey. Formerly the SLC’s senior associate director for operations and academic programs, Acker will continue working to inspire, educate and develop values-based leaders in her new role.

Morrison Named College of Sciences Assistant Dean for Advancement

Tina Morrison has been named the new assistant dean for advancement at the College of Sciences, following a national search. As assistant dean for advancement, Morrison will serve as the lead fundraiser for the college and oversee the daily operations of the Advancement Office, including supervising staff, managing budgets and setting fundraising goals. She will also serve as president of the College of Sciences Foundation, the 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that promotes the educational, research and service programs of the college. She joins the college from the NC State University Libraries, where she recently led fundraising efforts as executive director for development.

Making Her Mark: Wei Gao Honored as University Scholar

Wei Gao, associate professor of textile engineering, chemistry and science (TECS) in the Wilson College of Textiles, was recently named a University Faculty Scholar in NC State’s 2021 class, joining 20 other early- and mid-career faculty who received this designation. The honor recognizes outstanding academic achievements and contributions to NC State through their teaching, scholarship and service to the university and beyond.
