Charles Eason was one of the first students to sign up for the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics' pilot program in entrepreneurship. When he graduates this spring, Eason will be one of the program's first success stories. Private support has helped Eason create a mobile shell hatchery for oyster and clams.

Entrepreneurship supporters gathered in Stewart Theatre recently for the Lulu eGames, NC State's annual startup competition, which enjoys donor support. Winning teams were selected based on combined scores from a business plan and in-person pitch.

Creating Value for Wolfpack Investors – and Students

The opportunities offered by the Jenkins MBA program's Technology Entrepreneurship Commercialization Scholars program drew Gary Sanguinetti from New Jersey to North Carolina. Now in his second year of the program, Sanguinetti is training to re-enter the entrepreneurship sector and happy to collaborate with others in the Wolfpack Investor Network.

Andrews Launch Accelerator Accepting Applications from NC State Entrepreneurs

The application process is open for the 2019 Andrews Launch Accelerator at NC State. Students or recent alumni in any discipline who are interested in starting a business or are launching a startup are welcome to apply. The program, powered by the NC State Acceleration Fund, helps thinkers and doers jump start their entrepreneurial journey.

A partnership expansion on Centennial Campus will offer a broad range of workspaces and collaboration for students and professionals seeking an inspiring work environment. Approximately 20,000 square feet of industrial space in the Partners I building will become the new home of NC State's Entrepreneurship Garage while providing HQ Raleigh another location for its growing entrepreneurial co-working ecosystem.

A Winning Start: College of Design Alum Wins Apprenticeship with Adidas

Alumnus Chris Williams is heading for the West Coast and a footwear design apprenticeship at Adidas after winning one of three spots in a competition against 1,000 other designers in the international Adidas Design Academy competition. Williams, who participated in the Entrepreneurship Initiative while on campus as a College of Design student, will head to Portland, Oregon, this fall.

Recent Graduates Credit Think and Do with Healthcare Startup Success

Malcolm Benitz, Michael Rosenberg and Chase Ballard founded Medicom as NC State undergrads, and now the company is providing a better way for medical providers to safely and securely share patient information. The alumni have secured funding from the Wolfpack Investor Network and were part of the first class to participate in the Andrews Launch Accelerator.

Measuring the Role of Social Networks in Entrepreneurship

Working closely with NC State's Entrepreneurship Clinic and with private funding support, a team of researchers in the Poole College of Management has begun a two-year project aimed at developing and validating new metrics focused on social network embeddedness and on social network engagement.

Bolstered by generous philanthropic support that created initiatives such as the Andrews Launch Accelerator, the Miller Fellows, the Albright Entrepreneur Village and a number of endowed distinguished professorships, NC State has been ranked by The Princeton Review and Entrepreneur magazine as a top undergraduate school for entrepreneurship studies.
