Alumni Donors Know Fitts-Woolard Hall is More than a Building

More than 300 alumni have supported the College of Engineering in its effort to raise $60 million in private donations to help fund construction of Fitts-Woolard Hall, scheduled to open this summer. Meet two couples who have made support of the project a priority and learn why they decided to give: Scott and Beth Stabler, and Gerald and Nancy White.

The Gift of Feeling Normal

After experiencing the anxiety and stress of bringing a beloved pet to a new environment during a medical emergency, Sandy Kirk decided to donate a bench to the NC State Veterinary Hospital's outdoor area. She hopes to give those in similar situations a place to sit peacefully while their pets are entrusted to the hospital's expert, compassionate care.

Engineering Foundation’s Endowment Dinner Highlights Impact and Connections

The annual event connects donors like Shoshanna Conway with College of Engineering students and faculty who benefit from endowed scholarships, fellowships and professorships. The John Estes Conway Memorial Scholarship named for Conway's late husband has benefited more than 50 students in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.

2019 Scholarship Dinner Celebrates Radical Generosity

At February’s annual scholarship dinner hosted by the North Carolina Veterinary Medical Foundation, NC State College of Veterinary Medicine students spent time with the donors who help make their education possible. CVM Dean Paul Lunn said that between 2013 and 2017, the amount of scholarship funds available to the college's students rose from $282,000 to $879,000, and he hopes that figure will exceed $1 million by next year.

Checking in with Suzanne Gordon

This spring, Suzanne S. Gordon becomes the first woman to serve as president of the NC State Engineering Foundation Board of Directors. She holds bachelor’s degrees in computer science and mathematics and a master’s degree in statistics, all from NC State. She retired from SAS Institute in 2012 as chief information officer.
