New Libraries Gift Supports Students Who Are Passionate About Education

Pete and Theresa Dyke have created the Timothy R. Jenney Memorial Libraries Scholarship, which will provide a partial scholarship to a Libraries student worker from the College of Education, with a preference for those who are first-generation. The scholarship is part of the Libraries’ continuing efforts to support student success and make education more affordable.

A group of first-year College of Education students had the opportunity to travel to Savannah and Washington, D.C., through Mission Makers, a program designed to better prepare them to be educators who address the needs of all learners. NC State’s College of Education is establishing the Goodnight Distinguished Professorship in Early Literacy thanks to a gift from longtime NC State supporters Dr. Jim and Mrs. Ann Goodnight. The professorship will support the activities of a professor who focuses on teaching the science of reading in early literacy.
