Meet the 2024-25 Kenan Fellows

The Kenan Fellows Program for Teacher Leadership at NC State University recently announced the selection of 38 K-12 educators from North Carolina public schools as 2024-25 Kenan Fellows. The Kenan Fellows Program offers teachers immersive summer experiences in industry and research settings and supports them in turning this industry exposure into instructional resources and programs for their schools, districts and communities.

Maddy Hannan ’24 Receives Two Awards From College of Education

Hannan received both the College of Education Golden Apple Student Teaching Award and the Lee V. Stiff Outstanding Senior Award from the Math Education program. The Park Scholar is from Atlanta, Georgia, and graduated this spring with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics education.

Four Faculty Members Win Outstanding Research Award, Induction to Research Leadership Academy

Four NC State faculty members, including several distinguished professors, won the university’s top award for research and mentorship in 2024, highlighting their exceptional contributions to their respective fields. The Outstanding Research Award recognizes faculty who lead in their areas of expertise; empower the success of their fellow NC State faculty; and advance an intellectual, multidisciplinary research community.

On NC State’s sixth Day of Giving, donors created five new College of Education scholarships and made 992 gifts, the most the college has ever received on the day. Additionally, for the third year in a row, the college won the Faculty and Staff Giving Challenge.

Dallas Herring Professor Emerita Carol Kasworm explores the current landscape of practice and policy for adult undergraduate students as the co-author of “Creating a Place for Adult Learners in Higher Education: Challenges and Opportunities,” which was published in January by Routledge.

Three College of Education faculty members, including an Alumni Distinguished Graduate Professor, have been named professors of distinction.
