A Focus on Fibers and Fashion

Jeanna Young, recipient of the Jay Purvis Scholarship, is an aspiring textile designer pursuing a second degree in the College of Design's art and design program, with a focus on fibers and fashion. She has traveled to the Netherlands to further explore her interests in textile design, an effort made possible through a grant from the NC State Office of Undergraduate Research.

Finding Her Stitch

The Noble-McDuffie Travel Scholarship enabled Carly Owens, a senior in art and design, to travel to Chicago this summer to attend an intensive seminar on tambour beading. The experience built on a passion the Art2Wear designer discovered during the inaugural United Kingdom 2016 summer program: Stitching a Cultural Identity, developed by College of Design assistant professor Kat Diuguid.
