Thinking Big: Three Donors Honor Dr. Gerald Hawkins With Gifts to Caldwell Fellows Program

In recognition of the role the Caldwell Fellows program’s first director played in their lives, three alumni have made significant gifts to grow the Gerald G. Hawkins/Caldwell Fellows Program Endowment. Dr. Hawkins served nearly 1,000 Caldwell fellows in his 35 years leading the program.

CALS alumna Katherine Drake Stowe has turned her interest in plant breeding into a career as the first director of the nonprofit U.S. Soybean Research Collaborative. She also serves as president of the NC State Alumni Association and volunteers with NC State’s Caldwell Fellows and SATELLITE Camp, a STEM high school outreach program led by Caldwell.
