Caldwell Fellows Philanthropy Spotlight: John and Mary Higdon

The Caldwell Fellows program is pleased to announce the recent gift from John F. and Penny Higdon establishing the John O. and Mary E. Higdon Caldwell Fellows Program Endowment. This endowment, named in honor of John’s parents, celebrates John and Mary’s commitment to family and their enthusiastic support of the goals and ideals of the Caldwell Fellows Program.

Current Caldwell Fellows gathered for the inaugural Experiential Learning Poster Presentation session on August 28 as a unique opportunity for students to share their experiences in personal development through internships, leadership positions, undergraduate research, study abroad and self-designed projects.

Engineering Alumni Establish New Endowment for Caldwell Fellows Program

Allison Anderson ’05 ’07 and David Anderson ’05 met during their time in the Caldwell Fellows Program. The program made such a significant impact on their lives that they have decided to establish a new named fund that will honor their time there as well as benefit other students.

Caldwell Fellows Stipend Stories: Alisa Andrews ’23

Every summer, Caldwell Fellows engage in hands-on learning opportunities across North Carolina, the United States and the world. One such student is Alisa Andrews, a science, technology and society major who used her summer experiential learning stipend to participate in the Jefferson Scholars’ senior trip to Hawaii. The trip focused on sustainable agricultural practices.

Caldwell Fellows Celebrate Community Support on Day of Giving

The Caldwell Fellows celebrated a record single day of fundraising during NC State’s 2022 Day of Giving. The day brought together five decades of Caldwell Fellows alumni and friends, who stepped up to help raise more than $1 million for NC State’s oldest merit-based scholarship and servant-leadership development program.

Caldwell Fellows Announces Class of 2025

The Caldwell Fellows program has named 28 first-year students to its Class of 2025 — the 55th class of Caldwell Fellows. This cohort includes students hailing from 10 different North Carolina counties, seven U.S. states, and the countries of Belgium, India and Venezuela. Members of the class are pursuing a wide range of studies across 10 of NC State’s academic colleges.

Caldwell Fellows Fundraising Campaign ‘Thinks Big’

The Caldwell Fellows have commenced a season of gratitude with appreciation for the more than 1,300 program alumni, friends and supporters who helped raise more than $9.1 million for the program through NC State’s Think and Do the Extraordinary Campaign.
