Catching Up with Joe Thuney

Jeff Gravley does a short video interview about this unusual offseason with former NC State football student-athlete Joe Thuney. Chosen in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots, the offensive lineman has started all 64 games of his pro career, including three Super Bowl starts. Thuney graduated cum laude in accounting from Poole College of Management.

Cunane Gains AP Third Team All-American Status

NC State sophomore women's basketball player Elissa Cunane continued to add to her list of honors for the 2019-20 season as she earned Associated Press Third Team All-American recognition. Cunane is the first Wolfpack women's basketball player ever chosen for a spot on one of the three AP All-American teams.

A Champion Beyond the Court

Sam Hunt made the most of his time as a transfer student-athlete to NC State, both on and off the court. As a men's basketball player, he enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences’ online graduate certificate program in leadership and volunteer management, completing it in 2018. Now working as a graduate assistant for the Wolfpack squad, Hunt is completing his master’s degree in youth, family and community science.

Scholarship Fund to Honor Purcell

After 33 years at the Wolfpack Club, Bobby Purcell is retiring as executive director on June 30. To honor Purcell and his extraordinary service, the Wolfpack Club is excited to establish the BP33 Scholarship Fund, which will fund student-athlete scholarships for generations to come.

Lonnie Poole Golf Course Honored for Sustainability Efforts

The North Carolina Golf Course Operator’s Association’s Sustainability Award recognizes the ability to incorporate sustainability and environmental stewardship into operating practices. NC State's Lonnie Poole Golf Course, the 2019 honoree, is one of only two college golf courses designated as a Certified Silver Audubon International Signature Sanctuary. Not only does the course utilize environmental guidelines, it was built to meet them.

A Big Night for Holt

Former standout Wolfpack student-athlete Torry Holt will be honored at Thursday night's football game against Syracuse, in recognition of his upcoming induction into the National Football Foundation (NFF) & College Hall of Fame. The two-time all-America receiver will be the sixth NC State player to have his accomplishments memorialized in the hall, which is located in Atlanta.

Student-Athletes Lead Effort Against Sexual Violence

Wolfpack football will host the ACC’s first #SetTheExpectation game this Saturday, Sept. 21. Led by Brenda Tracy, #SetTheExpectation is a national campaign for activism against interpersonal violence that strives to raise awareness, educate and directly engage with collegiate athletic programs. There will be multiple related events on campus, and donors can support the Molly Hayes Glander Program Advocates Endowment Fund, which helps NC State assist survivors of interpersonal violence on an ongoing basis.
