The Woodsons Receive 2022 Bowers Medal of Arts

Arts NC State recently presented the 2022 Bowers Medal of Arts to Chancellor Randy Woodson and his wife, Susan, during a ceremony in Thompson Hall. The award recognizes individuals who demonstrate a deep and profound commitment to the value of the arts at NC State.

Remembering John C. McIlwee

John C. McIlwee, the longtime director of University Theatre, passed away Oct. 2, 2022, at the age of 74. A celebration-of-life gathering will be scheduled in spring 2023 in Stewart Theatre, with his family requesting that donations be made to the John C. McIlwee Theatre Endowment, to benefit the NC State theatre program, in lieu of flowers.

Finding Their Voice

Establishing a new a cappella group is no small feat even in the best of times, but doing so in the middle of a pandemic is an entirely different challenge. That was the endeavor undertaken by the five co-founders of Chordination, the most recent of the student-run groups the Department of Music supports with help from annual donors.

The (Art) Show Goes On, and Visual Artist Awards Are Announced

In 2017, Arts NC State received a generous gift to create a visual artist award for the student art annual sale, to recognize NC State students for their outstanding work in the visual arts. Jornell Bacon, Jake Goodnight and Grayson Morrow were named this year's winners, and art continues to be available at links shared on the Arts NC State Flickr gallery.
