Foundation Year in Review 2024

The NC State Engineering Foundation, Inc. led another successful fundraising year for the College of Engineering. Fundraising totals to the college were $40,437,188 during the 2024 fiscal year, including $4.8 million from a record-setting 2,172 gifts on Day of Giving 2024.

Paying for the Pantry

Ranbir Singh ’92 MS, ’97 PHD didn’t have a lot of extra money, but he found ways so he didn’t go hungry when he was an international student at NC State. Now, he’s helping other Pack members in need by establishing Feed the Pack food pantry’s first endowment.

Maintaining a Generous Connection

The Mark and Robin Wyatt Scholarship Endowment will celebrate its 16th anniversary on March 26, NC State’s Day of Giving 2025. The Wyatts are proud not only of the value it provides student recipients studying computer science but also of their long-running, deep connection to NC State.

5 Questions With Wolfpack Club’s Banks Cathey

Banks Cathey graduated from NC State in May 2024 with a bachelor’s degree in sport management and now works as a development assistant for the Wolfpack Club, a nonprofit organization that raises funds for the university’s athletics. As a student, Cathey was also a James Buzzard Leadership Development Fellow, a fellowship which was initiated through a generous donation from James “Jim” Buzzard, an alumnus of the College of Natural Resources and the former president of MeadWestvaco.

Cameron Cooper ’09 Receives the 2025 Distinguished Young Alumni Award

In recognition of his professional achievements, community involvement and alignment with the college’s core values, Cameron Cooper was recently named a recipient of the Wilson College of Textiles’ 2025 Distinguished Young Alumni Award. Cooper was accepted into both the Park Scholars program and the Centennial Scholarship program during his time at NC State, which supported him financially, personally and professionally throughout his undergraduate career.

Giving Back to the Places That Shaped Them

Dan and Barbara Pleasant established a scholarship for NC State engineering students from rural North Carolina counties, with a preference for Caswell and Person counties. Sophomore Braydon Boaz of Caswell County is its first recipient.

Legendary Chemistry Professor Bumgardner Passes Away at 100

The NC State community lost a longtime member on Feb. 24 when Chemistry Professor Emeritus Carl Bumgardner passed away. Bumgardner taught at NC State for more than 40 years and established the Ann Bumgardner and Myrtle Bumgardner Scholarship to benefit students in the Department of Chemistry.

Endowment Marks Start of New Partnership

A new era of partnership has begun between the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering – Carolina-South Atlantic Chapter and NC State’s Biomanufacturing Training and Education Center with the recent unveiling of a $100,000 endowment. This commitment reflects the organizations’ shared mission in cultivating a strong and sustainable workforce for the biopharmaceutical industry.
