Snider recently received his CALS Distinguished Alumni Award during the annual CALS Alumni Awards event. Snider’s passion for teaching and helping others are reasons he was chosen for this honor — and why he chose to make a planned gift through his estate that will provide scholarships to future students.

Devoted CALS Philanthropist William Prestage Passes Away

William “Bill” Prestage, the founder, owner and patriarch of Clinton, North Carolina-based Prestage Farms and the namesake of NC State’s Prestage Department of Poultry Science, passed away Oct. 10, 2022, at the age of 87. Prestage will be remembered as a dear friend and avid supporter of NC State, the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and the department.

Yaroslava Yingling Named Kobe Steel Distinguished Professor

The Department of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) has named Professor Yaroslava Yingling as the fourth Kobe Steel Distinguished Professor. This partnership for university distinction was formed by a group of NC State College of Engineering faculty and private-sector partners, including former MSE department head John Hren and former president of Kobe Development Corporation S. Yano.
