Poole College’s Ram Janakiraman Receives New Distinguished Professorship

Ram Janakiraman, a professor of marketing analytics in the Poole College of Management, has been honored with a distinguished professorship. Janakiraman is the first R. Randall Rollins Distinguished Professor, bringing the total number of distinguished professors in Poole College to 15, including Stephen P. Zelnak Jr. Dean Frank Buckless.

Johnston Named ASCE Distinguished Member

David W. Johnston, Edward I. Weisiger Distinguished Professor Emeritus in the College of Engineering’s Department of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering, has been named a Distinguished Member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). This high honor — only 12 of the group’s 160,000 members can be recognized in this way each year — acknowledges Johnston’s impactful contributions to construction engineering research, education and licensure.

Triangle Finnish Association Honors Baliga

The Triangle Finnish Association and Duke University recently hosted a special event in honor of B. Jayant Baliga, the Progress Energy Distinguished University Professor Emeritus of Electrical and Computer Engineering at NC State. Baliga earned Finland’s 2024 Millennium Technology Prize for his invention, development and commercialization of an energy-saving semiconductor switch he invented in 1980 as a researcher at General Electric.
