General Mills Gift Supports Poultry Environment Research

Three professors in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences are examining the housing environment’s effect on poultry thanks to a gift from General Mills. The company’s generosity is supporting the research and also provided student research stipends and funding for other research expenses to fuel poultry science advances.

Industry Partnership Aims to Tackle Hog Farm Wastewater

International irrigation company Netafim, precision agriculture business Orbia and TriEst Ag Group have partnered with the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences to develop a more environmentally friendly solution for managing wastewater from hog farms. Netafim’s support for the college includes funding to assist graduate students working in water and air quality, funding for a sponsored research project and funds for the purchase and installation of two drip irrigation systems for use at NC State’s Tidewater Research Station.

NC State Announces Launch of Universitywide Climate and Sustainability Academy

This academy will be the fourth academy at NC State and represents a universitywide, interdisciplinary effort to build upon previous grassroots climate and sustainability efforts and initiatives. Erin Seekamp, Goodnight Distinguished Professor of Coastal Resilience and Sustainability in the College of Natural Resources, has been appointed as executive director.

This past week was our fourth annual Pantry Bowl, and our Wolfpack showed up — thank you! Securing our third Pantry Bowl win in a row, we received 1,520 gifts for Feed the Pack Food Pantry. Though Pantry Bowl is over, Giving Tuesday has just begun. Help us keep the support for Feed the Pack going — every gift to Feed the Pack works directly to address food insecurity on our campus.
