Misra Named MC Dean Distinguished University Professor

Veena Misra has been named the second MC Dean Distinguished University Professor in Electrical and Computer Engineering. Alumni William H. Dean, president and CEO of M.C. Dean, and his father, Marion Casey Dean, retired president and CEO of the company, endowed the first professorship in 2017 and endowed this second position as part of the Think and Do the Extraordinary Campaign.

Exploring the Social, Ethical Sides of Microbiome Engineering

NC State will play a key role in the National Science Foundation Engineering Research Center for Precision Microbiome Engineering (PreMiEr)’s work by examining the societal, ethical and policy implications of microbiome engineering advancements. Jennifer Kuzma, the Goodnight-NCGSK Foundation Distinguished Professor in the School of Public and International Affairs and co-director of the Genetic Engineering and Society Center, serves as associate director of PreMiEr and will head efforts to explore and consider public attitudes, risks and multidisciplinary perspectives related to the research.
