An Unforgettable Experience

Cathy Mittenson soon will be working as a large animal associate veterinarian, following her spring graduation from NC State's College of Veterinary Medicine. Mittenson benefited from the Equine Memorial Scholarship, part of the Equine Memorial Program Fund launched in 2015 by Southern Pines Equine Associates veterinarians James Hamilton and Thomas Daniel Jr. in coordination with the NC Veterinary Medical Foundation. The program is funded by participating veterinarians who donate in memory of horses in their care.

Empowering People

Ashley Lawson, a Park Scholar and math education and mathematics major, plans to spend her life empowering people -- especially school-aged children -- to look beyond their circumstances when setting goals for the future. Lawson was recently named NC State's 10th Truman Scholar.

Goodwin Wins Holladay Medal

Barry K. Goodwin, the William Neal Reynolds Distinguished Professor and Graduate Alumni Distinguished Professor in CALS, recently received the Alexander Quarles Holladay Medal for Excellence. The award is NC State's highest honor for academic achievement.
