A Wolfpack Family Gives Back

Dr. Tony Sigmon and his wife, Nancy -- along with their children and children’s spouses -- have invested in the College of Engineering’s Fitts-Woolard Hall, as well as other college and NC State initiatives. Sigmon, founder and corporate president of Raleigh-based Collegiate Capital Management, received his bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees in engineering science and mechanics from the college. And there are many more family ties.

His Disease, His Mission

May is ALS Awareness Month. NC State scientist Michael Bereman was diagnosed with ALS two years ago, and, undeterred by his diagnosis, he is researching a cure to eradicate the disease for future generations.

Istook Named Cornelson Family Distinguished Professor

Dr. Cynthia Istook, professor in NC State's Department of Textile and Apparel, Technology and Management (TATM), has been named the Cornelson Family Distinguished Professor of Textile and Apparel Design. She plans to use the professorship’s attendant funding to support state-of-the-art technology and training for faculty and students, and hopes to establish a fashion and apparel technology center.

The award is the most significant universitywide honor given to faculty by the University of North Carolina System.
