A Coffee Shop with a Purpose

Four Park Scholars in the Class of 2021 have started pop-up shop 321 Coffee, staffed by individuals with intellectual and developmental disorders. According to Lindsay Wrege, CEO, the organization is meant "to provide meaningful volunteer work experience for adults with special needs, as well as a space for the NC State and Raleigh [populace] to interact with the special-needs community."

One of Larry Coats' high school teachers, Fred Manley, inspired him to switch to the college prep track and attend NC State – a decision that changed his life. Coats is now an intellectual property lawyer who recently established a scholarship to honor Manley.

Duo Presents Modern-Art Masterworks

Modern-art pioneers Robert K. Black and J. Ormond Sanderson Jr. will display their own work and items from their collection in Design Duet, an exhibition at the Gregg Museum of Art & Design. Last year, the couple decided to provide long-term support to the Gregg in the form of a planned gift.

Investing in the Wolfpack

NC State MBA startup Tethis has received the Wolfpack Investor Network’s largest capital raise to date. The company was co-founded by Scott Bolin (MBA ’12) based on work he and fellow students did in their technology, entrepreneurship and commercialization (TEC) concentration team project in the Jenkins MBA program.

Park Scholar Lands Job with the Federal Reserve

Madeline Finnegan will continue her involvement with the Federal Reserve Bank of New York full-time after she graduates in May. Last summer, the NC State Park Scholar worked there as a summer research analyst, contributing as part of the financial intermediation team.
