On Dec. 31, 2021, NC State’s five-year Think and Do the Extraordinary Campaign came to an incredibly successful close. Alumni, friends, employees and more helped propel the university well past its goal of $1.6 billion for a grand total of $2,103,932,120. These new funds will help drive NC State’s land-grant mission of creating economic, societal and intellectual prosperity for all by both reaffirming its commitment to broad educational opportunity and powering its cutting-edge, hands-on innovation as North Carolina’s leading science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) university.

NC State professor Dr. Natasha Olby is one of the many Pack members who have been benefited by this historic fundraising effort. The Dr. Kady M. Gjessing and Rahna M. Davidson Distinguished Chair in Gerontology, Professor Neurology and Neurosurgery provides Olby with critical funding to better understand and care for aging pets. This distinguished professorship is one of more than 100 created during the Think and Do the Extraordinary Campaign to help the university recruit and retain top researchers and educators from around the world.

“What I’m excited about is the opportunity this will give me to expand my horizons and give me a really solid base for the research that I do,” Olby said when the announcement was made. “I was incredibly lucky this appeared for me and is coming from someone who I identify with. It really will make a big difference in what I will be able to do.”
