Narayan to Serve on NAI Fellows Advisory Committee

Dr. Jagdish Narayan, John C.C. Fan Distinguished Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, has been elected to serve on the 2017 Fellows Advisory Committee for the National Academy of Inventors (NAI). Narayan also was just inducted as a member of the National Academy of Engineering (NAE) during a ceremony at the NAE’s annual meeting in Washington, D.C.

Lisbeth Arias recently realized a dream when she held a launch celebration for her clothing line, Descalza, at her alma mater, NC State’s College of Textiles. The Caldwell Fellow alumna started the line as an undergraduate and now is working to build her own business.

Student Spotlight: Sarah Bailey

Forest management major Sarah Bailey's recent internship -- supported by the College of Natural Resources Student Assistance and Enrichment Fund -- involved identifying tree species throughout the park and creating new labels and maps that enabled visitors to learn about both trees and biodiversity. The University Scholar gained hands-on skills in other areas including park promotion and visitor interaction, too.
