Q&A with Traci Lamar: Fashion and Textile Design Showcase

Traci Lamar, a professor in the Department of Textile and Apparel, Technology and Management at Wilson College of Textiles, sat down to share the big picture impact of the Fashion and Textile Design showcase. After seven years, the showcase has grown in many ways — and with increased donor support, Lamar says, graduating students could truly demonstrate their full potential to industry leaders.

More than 750 first-year and transfer students are bringing their bright ideas and big hearts to the College of Sciences. Meet four of them: Trinity Taylor, who holds the college's J. Richard Mowat Memorial Scholarship; Jesus Vina Moreno, a transfer Goodnight Scholar; Katherine Cherry, a Park Scholar; and Max Bhuiyan, who received the Gould Family Scholarship in the Solomon Scholars Program.

Annable Scholarship Helps CVM Student Reach New Heights

Sarah Scott-Cruz loves animals and the environment, and she comes from a medical family. That combination made becoming a veterinarian a natural step. Support from NC State's Michele M. and Ross M. Annable Scholarship is bringing her closer to her goal.

First Group Participates in College of Education Summer Internship Program in Memory of Chantal Warfield

The College of Education recognizes its first participants in the competitive, eight-week summer internship program established to honor the impact and legacy of Chantal Warfield '19. Amaya Dicker '21, a middle grades English language arts and social studies education major who looked up to Warfield, and Teaching Fellow Breanna Goins '21 were the first students to receive support from the program, which is funded in part through a gift from the John M. Belk Endowment.

Above and Beyond: Student Employees Earn Special Scholarship for Commitment to Wellness

More than 700 students are employed part-time in various positions with Wellness and Recreation. This year, Carson Kelber ’21 and Dani Dalton ’21 were recognized in a virtual ceremony as recipients of the Wellness and Recreation Friends and Family Student-Employee Scholarship. The award provides financial assistance to two undergraduate student employees who uphold Wellness and Recreation's mission while serving as as leaders and role models.

Bain Receives the Isaac Frank Ormond III Scholarship

NC State's Department of Health and Exercise Studies announced that junior Crista Bain has been named the latest recipient of the Isaac Frank Ormond III Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship recognizes a strong, consistent commitment to the field of health and exercise studies through participation in extracurricular activities, internships, certifications and other educational opportunities. Recipients demonstrate characteristics such as good character and strong academic standing.
