Felton Receives Prestigious Marshall Scholarship

Park Scholar Kobi Felton -- an honors chemical and biomolecular engineering major with a minor in Spanish who also is a member of the University Scholars Program -- is NC State's third recipient of a Marshall Scholarship. The 2018 awards are being presented to 43 Americans chosen based on academic merit, leadership potential and ambassadorial potential to receive funding to pursue postgraduate study in the United Kingdom.

Enduring Gift Helps Make Dreams Come True

Joseph Edward Salsbury graduated from veterinary school more than 100 years ago, but he continues to shape the lives of NC State College of Veterinary Medicine students through the J.E. Salsbury Foundation. The foundation awarded $100,000 to the CVM in 1985, the year its first class graduated, and continues to provide scholarships for fourth-year students including four current ones.

Surviving the Shark Tank

Park Scholar alumnus Steven Mazur nearly came up short when he braved ABC-TV’s Shark Tank in late October in search of a $100,000 investment in his Detroit company, which sells clothes for men 5-foot-8 and under. But he and business partner Eric Huang wound up with more than they asked for. And it came from the tallest investor in the tank: Mark Cuban, the 6-foot-3 owner of the NBA's Dallas Mavericks.

Meet the Newest Dean’s Scholars in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences

The college awarded the merit-based scholarship to six outstanding incoming freshmen, who use the funds to offset tuition and for hands-on learning such as study abroad, internships or undergraduate research. Funding comes from donor gifts to the college’s Excellence Fund, in addition to the William T. Kretzer Family Scholarship fund.
