The Impact of Mentorship During a Summer Research Experience with Nithin Gupta

Nithin Gupta, a senior majoring in genetics, is spending his summer on a research project focused on developing organoids that could revolutionize how we approach dealing with potential side-effects in medical treatments. His mentors include Jorge Piedrahita, professor of translational medicine and director of the Comparative Medicine Institute (CMI), and Kathryn Polkoff, a second-year Ph.D. student and graduate research assistant at the CMI. Finding a Better Way for Zora

Dick and Donna Johnson came to NC State Veterinary Hospital after their dog Zora was diagnosed with cancer. Zora's NC State medical team, led by Tracy Gieger and Michael Nolan, came up with a treatment plan that allowed the family to enjoy more time with her. To show their appreciation, the Johnsons have made a gift to the College of Veterinary Medicine’s Radiation Oncology Research Fund, which supports work to advance the science of cancer treatment.
