Irwin to Study Bee Abundance With Support From Kriz Endowment

Rebecca Irwin has spent the past several decades at the Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory in Colorado studying how climate change affects bees and their interactions with their host plants. Irwin will return again this summer, but unlike in previous years, Irwin will be extending her visit through the fall for a sabbatical, made possible in large part by the George J. and Rhoda W. Kriz Faculty Study Leave Endowment.

Tuffy Tumbler Triumphs at Make-A-Thon

Make-A-Thon, NC State’s annual sustainability innovation challenge for students, challenges them to research, design, prototype and pitch a solution that addresses a sustainability challenge. Teams have access to advice, feedback and technical skills from the 32-plus mentors available during the competition in the N.C. PSI Makerspace, the Albright Entrepreneurship Garage and Duke Energy Hall.

Park Under-Resourced Assistance Names Two New Co-Presidents

The Park Under-Resourced Assistance (PURA) program has named two new co-presidents: Molly Sue Smith ’26 and Freddy Kelley ’25. PURA was founded in 2020 and provides a direct outlet of support for under-resourced applicants to NC State and the Park Scholarships program.
