Record Attendance for an Extraordinary Event

The 2025 Pullen Society induction was the group’s highest-attended ceremony to date, with 300 members of the Wolfpack coming together to welcome this year’s cohort of planned gift-makers.

Four Faculty Members Win the 2025 Outstanding Research Award

Four NC State faculty members, including two distinguished professors, were awarded the university’s top honor for research and mentorship this year, applauding the significant and consequential contributions they have made to their respective fields. As Outstanding Research Award recipients, Felix N. Castellano, Bill Rand, Melanie Simpson and Ross Sozzani will be automatically inducted into the Research Leadership Academy.

Seventh Annual Day of Giving Raises Nearly $800K for College of Natural Resources

On March 26, NC State’s seventh annual Day of Giving fundraiser brought together Wolfpack alumni, faculty, staff and others to support the College of Natural Resources. The college received 976 gifts for a preliminary total of $796,485 thanks to the generosity of donors, with the funds going to support student scholarships, faculty research and much more.

Three Faculty Win Holladay Medal

Three faculty members, including two distinguished professors, received the Alexander Quarles Holladay Medal for Excellence, the highest honor bestowed by NC State and the university’s Board of Trustees. Chancellor Randy Woodson recognized the awardees during the Celebration of Faculty Excellence on April 8.

Albert Keung Named Integrative Sciences Initiative Director of Biotechnology Programs

Albert Keung has been named director of biotechnology programs for the Integrative Sciences Initiative in the Office of University Interdisciplinary Programs, effective March 1. Keung is the Goodnight Distinguished Scholar in Innovation in Biotechnology and Biomolecular Engineering and an associate professor in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering.

New Water Microcleaners Self-Disperse, Capture Microplastics and Float Up for Removal

In a new paper, researchers at NC State including Orlin Velev, S. Frank and Doris Culberson Distinguished Professor in the College of Engineering, show proof of concept for a system that, in a single cycle, actively removes microplastics from water.

Baliga Wins Millennium Technology Prize

B. Jayant Baliga, the Progress Energy Distinguished University Professor Emeritus of Electrical and Computer Engineering at NC State, was awarded the Millennium Technology Prize in October 2024 for the invention, development and commercialization of the insulated gate bipolar transistor, an energy-saving semiconductor switch he invented in 1980.
