Kai Lan Named 2025-26 Goodnight Early Career Innovator

College of Natural Resources assistant professor Kai Lan is among the 25 NC State faculty to be named to the 2025-26 class of Goodnight Early Career Innovators. The program recognizes promising early-career faculty whose scholarship is in STEM or STEM education with $22,000 per year over a three-year period to support their endeavors.

Bill Rand Appointed New Goodnight Executive Director of Institute for Advanced Analytics

Bill Rand will be appointed Goodnight Executive Director of the Institute for Advanced Analytics effective July 1. Rand is the McLauchlan Distinguished Professor of Marketing and Analytics and the executive director of Business Analytics and AI Initiative in the Department of Business Management in the Poole College of Management.

Goodnight Scholarships Announces the Class of 2029 and Transfer Class of 2028

The Goodnight Scholarships Office at NC State recently announced the 100 new scholars joining the Goodnight Scholars Program’s class of 2029 and the 60 new scholars joining the Goodnight Transfer Scholars Program’s class of 2028. The Goodnight Scholarship is made possible through the generosity of Dr. Jim and Mrs. Ann Goodnight and includes programming, travel opportunities and enrichment grant funding for cohorts of students studying STEM and STEM education.

William Enck, a faculty member in the College of Engineering’s Department of Computer Science since 2011, has been named the Goodnight Distinguished Professor in Security Sciences. Sabre Kais Joins NC State as Goodnight Distinguished Chair in Quantum Computing

In August 2024, Sabre Kais joined NC State’s Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering as the Goodnight Distinguished Chair in Quantum Computing. The Goodnight Distinguished Chair in Quantum Computing is a new endowed appointment created to help lead the growth and multidisciplinary activity of the IBM Quantum Innovation Center at NC State.
