What Climate Change Means for Tourism

Erin Seekamp, Goodnight Distinguished Professor and director of the Coastal Resilience and Sustainability Initiative at NC State, along with Ann Savage of NC State Tourism Extension and Whitney Knollenberg and Bethany Cutts of the Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management, has spent a number of years working with communities in the Outer Banks to help them identify actions they can take to build resilience against climate change.

Goodnight Distinguished Professor in Early Literacy Devin Kearns Joins National Advisory Board

NC State College of Education Goodnight Distinguished Professor in Early Literacy Devin Kearns has been invited to join an advisory committee for the National Center for Education Statistics’ National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP). Part of the U.S. Department of Education and Institute of Education Sciences, and often referred to as “the nation’s report card,” NAEP provides information about how students are performing academically across the country.

NC State Receives NSF Grant to Establish the Center for Accelerated Photocatalysis

The National Science Foundation (NSF) recently announced that NC State will direct a center that deploys self-driving labs to accelerate discovery for reactions which use light as a catalyst in challenging chemical transformations. The NSF Center for Accelerated Photocatalysis (CAPs) is supported by an NSF Centers for Chemical Innovation Program Phase I grant, totaling $1.8 million over the next three years.

Leaders Named to N.C. PSI Commercialization Council

The new council will inform the N.C. Plant Sciences Initiative’s efforts to deliver to growers across North Carolina by helping provide access to transformational technologies and support tools. Stephen Markham, Goodnight Distinguished University Professor of Innovation and Entrepreneurship and the executive director of NC State Innovation and Entrepreneurship, is co-chair of the council.
