SECU Foundation Offers New Internships for NC State Students

Through funding from the State Employees Credit Union (SECU) Foundation, NC State students will be serving rural communities in North Carolina while gaining valuable career experience this summer. The new SECU Public Fellows Internship Program provides up to $50,000 to fund 10 existing internships in 2020. In partnership with NC State’s Rural Works! program, SECU Public Fellows will receive professional development training and career readiness coaching.

Wehner Fellowship Endowment Established

Todd and DelMarie Wehner recently created the Wehner Horticulture Fellowship Endowment to assist NC State graduate students interested in horticulture studies. The Wehners said they benefited from university training and careers, and they want to pay those benefits forward to future horticulturists.

Meet College of Education Alumna Bria Cofield Wright ’16, ’19MED

Teacher Bria Cofield Wright wanted to deepen her ability to support her fifth-graders at Hortons Creek Elementary School. Being awarded the Ragland Foundation Teaching and Leading Literacy Scholarship and the Moshakos Family Teacher Education Graduate Fellowship from the NC State College of Education made that possible -- and inspired her to become a donor as well.

NC State Jenkins MBA Announces 2020 McLauchlan Leadership Fellows

NC State's Jenkins MBA Program has named its McLauchlan Fellows for spring 2020 semester. These students will take part in the McLauchlan Leadership Series, a program designed to provide graduate-level leadership education through experiential learning. A generous 2015 gift from Russ and Cara McLauchlan has empowered more than 100 students to participate in the initiative.

Robison-Greene is the Libraries’ First Tom Regan Visiting Research Fellow

NC State University Libraries has awarded the first annual Tom Regan Visiting Research Fellowship to Rachel Robison-Greene, a postdoctoral fellow at Utah State University researching the in-vitro meat revolution. Intended to promote scholarly research in animal rights, the fellowship was established through the generosity of the Culture & Animals Foundation (CAF) in memory of scholar, author and former NC State philosophy faculty member Tom Regan.
