New NC State Crowdfunding Projects Launch

NC State Crowdfunding has launched seven new projects this winter to connect the Wolfpack community with causes they are passionate about and that help our students, faculty and staff bring their ideas to life.

Pack Meal Share Program Receives 1,500 Donated Meals for Spring 2023

The Pack Meal Share program was developed in 2018 through collaboration between Student Government, NC State Dining and the Student Ombuds office as a way for students to directly support their peers. Students with a flex meal plan donated a total of 1,500 meals at the end of the fall semester, which will be distributed throughout the spring to students who apply for aid.

Counseling Center Receives 150-plus Gifts on Giving Tuesday

This Giving Tuesday, the Counseling and Prevention Services Enhancement Fund received more than $12,000 in gifts from alumni, parents, faculty, staff and friends to support student mental health services at NC State.

NC State Wins Pantry Bowl vs. UNC

From Nov. 20-27, NC State’s Feed the Pack Food Pantry and UNC’s Carolina Cupboard hosted the second annual Pantry Bowl. The pantries received a combined 2,235 gifts for a grand total of $148,099.93. NC State’s Feed the Pack Food Pantry received the most gifts with 1,128, compared to UNC’s 1,107. Feed the Pack will receive an additional $11,000 from Perry and Susan Safran and other generous donors for beating last year’s gift total.

New Need-Based Scholarship Supports Student Veterans

NC State alumnus Carroll “Scotty” Scott and his wife, Shirley, have established a new need-based scholarship for student veterans and met the first recipient this fall. The Scotts hope this scholarship will inspire others to give and support our nation’s veterans — especially those at NC State.

Restored Marble Sculpture Graces the Gregg Museum’s Garden

Support from Wade (’78) and Kathy Reece funded the restoration of Italian Reflections and, ultimately, the cost of installation in its beautiful new home in the Gregg Museum’s Rose Jackson and Evelyn Thiem Formal Garden, named by Jerry (’64) and Nina Jackson.

In addition to NC State’s rivalry-week football game against UNC-Chapel Hill, the universities are also took part in their second annual Pantry Bowl — a friendly competition to see which university can rally the most gifts for their campus food pantry. Cameron Morris ’23, outreach coordinator for NC State’s Feed the Pack Food Pantry, shares more about this vital campus resource.
