Former Student Body President Establishes Scholarship for Student Leaders

During his four years in student government, former student body president Andy Walsh ’13 revitalized old campus traditions and established new ones, like Respect the Pack. Now, he has pledged $10,000 to establish the Robert A. Walsh Student Leadership Fund, which will benefit undergraduate students serving in leadership roles for campus organizations.

Doneka Scott Named Vice Chancellor and Dean of the Division of Academic and Student Affairs

Dr. Doneka Scott will be appointed vice chancellor and dean of the Division of Academic and Student Affairs effective February 15, pending Board of Trustees approval. Scott will also hold a secondary appointment as a professor of the practice in the College of Education. As part of her duties, Scott will have oversight of the McNair Scholars Program and distinguished scholarships.

Day of Giving Raises Over $1 Million for Student Emergency Fund

The Student Emergency Fund provides microgrants to help students pay for unexpected expenses related to housing, food, medical bills and technology. The program has been especially crucial during the COVID-19 pandemic, with many experiencing sudden job loss and adjusting to remote education. Thanks to donor support on NC State Day of Giving: Stronger as a Pack, the fund is in a better position to help more students through financial challenges now and in the future.

Three Students Awarded First Angela C. Caraway Scholarships

Starr Gibens, April Gonzalez and Kendall Griffith have been named the inaugural recipients of the newly established Angela C. Caraway and Family Scholarship, which targets first-generation, underresourced and rural-background students. Gibens was among the student speakers at last autumn's Red and White Night.
