Four Faculty Members Win Outstanding Research Award, Induction to Research Leadership Academy

Four NC State faculty members, including several distinguished professors, won the university’s top award for research and mentorship in 2024, highlighting their exceptional contributions to their respective fields. The Outstanding Research Award recognizes faculty who lead in their areas of expertise; empower the success of their fellow NC State faculty; and advance an intellectual, multidisciplinary research community.

Sassorossi Family Establishes Scholarship for Paper Science Majors

Deanna and Sarah Sassorossi began to dream about giving back to the College of Natural Resources long before their graduation in 2016 and 2017, respectively. That dream has since grown from small gifts to an endowed scholarship in support of NC State’s Day of Giving 2024.

NC State Couple Donates Land for Natural Resources Education

When Tom and Priscilla Terry decided to donate 138 acres along Broad Creek to NC State, they gave a gift designed to keep on giving to students interested in learning about and managing our natural resources for generations to come. The Terrys also included a provision guaranteeing that if the property is ever sold, the proceeds of that sale will go toward an existing scholarship fund in the College of Natural Resources that the Terrys created a few years ago.

Exchange Program Promotes Positive Youth Development Through Sports

Empowering New Voices through Education and Sport Training, or ENVEST, is a cultural exchange program that aims to improve the capacity of coaches to implement youth soccer programs that increase leadership skill development and promote respect for differences and inclusion among participants. Jason Bocarro, the Owens-Shelton Distinguished Professor of Leadership with a Global Perspective at NC State, is a co-director of the program.

A Record-Breaking Day of Giving for the College of Natural Resources

Wolfpack supporters around the world showed their commitment to helping the College of Natural Resources build a more sustainable future by donating a record number of gifts to it on NC State’s sixth annual Day of Giving.

A Passion for Conservation Led Gabby Landry to NC State

Gabby Landry is a senior majoring in fisheries, wildlife and conservation biology in the College of Natural Resources. She is also an inaugural member of the James Buzzard Leadership Development Program, which is designed to build leadership skills through a variety of hands-on experiences with current leaders in a variety of fields. The program was initiated through a generous donation from James “Jim” Buzzard, an alumnus of the College of Natural Resources and the former president of MeadWestvaco.
