NC State's College of Engineering is moving up steadily in US News & World Report rankings of undergraduate engineering programs, paced by the top-10 ranking of the Edward P. Fitts Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering.

Two Engineering Leaders Named to Professorships

Saad Khan and Orlin Velev, professors in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, have been appointed to named professorships, in “promotions” from their previous named positions. In recognition of their outstanding scholarly achievements, Khan is now the INVISTA Professor of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering and Velev, an S. Frank and Doris Culberson Distinguished Professor.

Spotlight on Our Students: Working with Water in Cameroon

Gracie Hornby, a junior University Scholar and civil engineering major from Franklin, recently completed an internship in Yaounde, Cameroon, with the Circle of Women for Social Action and Aid. Hornby put her growing knowledge of engineering concepts to work by spearheading a water quality and sanitation project in five rural villages.

Two Park Scholars Receive the Astronaut Scholarship

Two NC State Park Scholars in the Class of 2019, Ziad Ali and Madison Maloney, are recipients of a 2018-19 Astronaut Scholarship. Awarded to 50 scholars from 36 universities across the nation, the scholarship was established to aid the United States in retaining world leadership in technology and innovation by supporting the best and brightest scholars in science, technology, engineering and mathematics while commemorating the legacy of America’s pioneering astronauts.
