Using Virtual Reality to Create New Tech for First Responders

Emerging technologies could allow first responders to call up all sorts of information when responding to an emergency. A team in NC State's Center for Educational Informatics, led by James Lester, Distinguished University Professor of Computer Science, is working to determine what information is most useful and how first responders might be able to control what information they see - and when.

Engineering Alum — and Volunteer for NC State — Designs Hardware for Future Human Space Travel

AJ Rackl graduated in 2016 from the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering with strong technical skills. But he says it’s the soft skills he learned — how to lead a project, work in a group and network with people — that have helped him the most in his role at Blue Origin in Kent, Washington. Rackl continues to network with and support NC State alumni and current students as the Engineering Foundation's regional presentative in the greater Seattle area and as a member of the foundation’s Young Alumni Advisory Board.
