Carmen Yulin Cruz to Speak for 2024 Eloise S. Cofer Family Living Lecture Series

After a four-year hiatus, the Eloise S. Cofer Family Living Lecture Series returns in 2024 with Carmen Yulín Cruz as this year’s guest speaker. The series was named in honor of Cofer upon her retirement following a distinguished career in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and is supported through an endowment.

Students who enroll in Entomology 201 to fulfill a science requirement don’t expect such a memorable class, but Clyde Sorenson — a three-time Wolfpack alumnus, a donor and a distinguished professor — has been perfecting his delivery over 27 years of teaching at NC State. Sorenson was recently featured on the NC State Philanthropy Podcast to detail his extraordinary contributions to his alma mater.

A Lasting Legacy for Dairy Science

Four graduate students are the first recipients of the William E. Younts Jr. Dairy Science Graduate Support Endowment. The fund benefits graduate students pursuing advanced degrees focusing on dairy processing and/or dairy food manufacturing within the Department of Food, Bioprocessing and Nutrition Sciences.

Mother of Invention

Rodolphe Barrangou, the Todd R. Klaenhammer Distinguished Professor in probiotics research in the Department of Food, Bioprocessing and Nutrition Sciences, is the eighth researcher from NC State to be inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame.

Four Students Receive First Graduate Student Endowment for N.C. PSI

The Norma L. Trolinder N.C. Plant Sciences Initiative Graduate Student Endowment has just been awarded to an inaugural group of NC State students. These four highly qualified individuals were selected from a large and competitive applicant pool and will receive $4,000 to cover various costs associated with the graduate student experience.
