NC State Naval ROTC Honors Fallen Alum With New Scholarship Endowment

NC State Naval ROTC recently honored the life and legacy of Lt. Cmdr. Eric Cranford, an alumnus of the battalion and the Poole College of Management who perished at the Pentagon during the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, by presenting the first annual scholarship in his memory.

Broker-in-Charge, Wolf-at-Heart

Drake Bratton ’86 left New Bern to attend NC State, which has nurtured his father, uncles, brothers and sons as well. The family has a legacy of involvement with the university, and Bratton also became a donor to give back to the institution they love so much.

Hassan Gift Accelerates Hypersonics Research

Three-time NC State alumnus Basil Hassan has elevated his family’s long-held ties to the university’s Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) with a naming gift for the high-speed wind tunnel laboratory located in MAE West. The newly named Hassan Lab was officially dedicated on April 23, recognizing the significant support and resources Hassan’s gift will provide faculty and students who are innovating in a rapidly advancing field.

Harry Sideris, CEO of Duke Energy, To Address 2026 Graduates

NC State alumnus and donor Harry Sideris ’94 will deliver the spring 2026 commencement address on May 9. Sideris and his wife, Catinna, created the Sideris Family Scholarship in 2021 to support Wolfpack students pursuing a dual major in chemical engineering and paper science and engineering. He also served on the Natural Resources Foundation Board from 2015 through 2023.

On Day of Giving, generous alumni and friends of NC State Alumni raised $63,098 and made 636 gifts — all while building connections and deepening engagement.

Introducing the Park Alumni Society 2026-2028

The Park Scholarships program recently announced the members of its 2026-2028 Park Alumni Society Board. The board is made up of dedicated alumni representing a wide range of interests and industries, locations and class years, who are all united by a shared commitment to strengthening the Park Scholar network.

Thuney to Join Wolfpack Football’s Ring of Honor

Alumnus Joe Thuney will be inducted into NC State Football’s Ring of Honor, enshrined at Carter-Finley Stadium. The former scholarship student-athlete was an All-American offensive lineman and outstanding academic performer who has played on six Super Bowl teams and earned four championship rings during his NFL career.

Leader of the Pack: Textiles Raises $8.7 Million to Transform Students’ Lives

On Day of Giving 2026, the Wilson College of Textiles led NC State’s leaderboard, raising $8,709,476 from 549 gifts to make the college more affordable for students and strengthen its world-class academic programs.
