Finding Her Stitch

The Noble-McDuffie Travel Scholarship enabled Carly Owens, a senior in art and design, to travel to Chicago this summer to attend an intensive seminar on tambour beading. The experience built on a passion the Art2Wear designer discovered during the inaugural United Kingdom 2016 summer program: Stitching a Cultural Identity, developed by College of Design assistant professor Kat Diuguid.

Making an Impact on Equine Medicine

Graduate student Emily Martin is excited about the College of Veterinary Medicine's plan to expand and renovate equine health services, which includes a new sports medicine facility, a revamped orthopedics service, upgraded intensive care facilities and cutting-edge imaging services. The already funded Tiffany and Randy Ramsey Equine Sports Medicine Program will treat performance-related diseases in a variety of sport horses and help endow professorships.

Faculty Research Award Recipient Profile: Jeffrey Pollack

The Poole College Board of Advisers has provided financial support for a new awards program recognizing faculty for research productivity. These outstanding scholars, named in May, receive a monetary award and carry the honorary title of Poole Advisory Board Scholar for the 2017-18 academic year. Meet one of them: Jeff Pollack, assistant professor of entrepreneurship, Department of Management, Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

Meet the 2017 Centennial Scholars

Ten freshmen were chosen as the latest recipients of Centennial Scholarships, based on academic achievement in high school, proven and potential leadership qualities, extracurricular activities and unique life experiences. The program, established by the North Carolina Textile Foundation in 1999 as a part of the College of Textiles’ Centennial Celebration, provides each student with a minimum of $15,000 per year for four years.
