Harry Sideris, CEO of Duke Energy, To Address 2026 Graduates

NC State alumnus and donor Harry Sideris ’94 will deliver the spring 2026 commencement address on May 9. Sideris and his wife, Catinna, created the Sideris Family Scholarship in 2021 to support Wolfpack students pursuing a dual major in chemical engineering and paper science and engineering. He also served on the Natural Resources Foundation Board from 2015 through 2023.

Two Faculty Win Holladay Medal

Two distinguished professors in the College of Engineering have received the Alexander Quarles Holladay Medal for Excellence, the highest honor bestowed by NC State and the university’s Board of Trustees. Chancellor Kevin Howell will recognize the awardees during the Celebration of Faculty Excellence on Tuesday, May 5.

2025-26 University Teaching Awards Announced

NC State has honored nearly 50 faculty, including several distinguished professors, for their commitment to educational excellence with the 2025-26 University Teaching Awards. Award recipients were recognized at a luncheon and ceremony on April 21 at the Duke Energy Hall in the James B. Hunt Library.

My Student Experience: Mack Aiken

Mack Aiken was one of several NC State Technology and Engineering Education Collegiate Association (TEECA) members who traveled to Virginia Beach in March for the National TEECA competition. The group was able to travel to the competition thanks in part to a gift from former College of Education faculty member Alice Scales honoring the late assistant teaching professor Walter F. Kelly Jr. Ed.D. ’13.

Caldwell Fellows Announces Class of 2029

The Caldwell Fellows program has named 30 first-year students to its class of 2029 — the 59th class of Caldwell Fellows. Named in honor of former NC State Chancellor John T. Caldwell, the Caldwell Fellows is NC State’s oldest scholarship and fellowship program dedicated to leadership development.

Thuney to Join Wolfpack Football’s Ring of Honor

Alumnus Joe Thuney will be inducted into NC State Football’s Ring of Honor, enshrined at Carter-Finley Stadium. The former scholarship student-athlete was an All-American offensive lineman and outstanding academic performer who has played on six Super Bowl teams and earned four championship rings during his NFL career.
